Conversations about Climate Change
The Building Centre, London
Client: Timber Trade Federation
Conversations about Climate Change is a specially commissioned design competition, exhibition, and events series providing a platform for urgent climate debates. Led by the Timber Trade Federation in collaboration with the Building Centre, the exhibition showcases six installations made from responsibly sourced tropical timber celebrating the importance of this natural material.
The exhibition displays the winning submissions of a competition challenging designers, architects and makers to create a piece of furniture, sculpture or functional object that sparks a conversation about climate change using FLEGT-licensed tropical timber.
The key concept was
to create a feeling of verticality in the gallery and provide visitors an environment which can be explored and not a linear experience. The exhibition furniture is manufactured from an engineered timber product for sustainability. After the exhibition concludes, which has been designed to tour, the exhibition build and even some of the exhibits have been designed to be recycled.
